USDA Weekly Crop Progress

OMAHA (DTN) -- Ninety-three percent of the nation's corn and 95% of the soybeans were harvested as of Nov. 8, according to USDA's latest weekly Crop Progress report.

Corn is 93% harvested, compared to 85% last week and an 88% five-year average. "Monday's report was neutral-to-bearish for corn," said DTN Analyst Todd Hultman.

Soybeans are 95% harvested, compared to 92% last week and a 93% five-year average. "Monday's report should be viewed as neutral for soybeans," Hultman said.

Winter wheat planting is 92% complete, compared to 88% last week and a 94% five-year average. Eighty percent of the crop is emerged, compared to 72% last week and an 80% five-year average.

Duck numbers way down for Coastal Zone season opener

"Duck hunters flocking to their blinds tomorrow for the Coastal Zone season opener this weekend could find fewer birds settling in their sets, with the state’s aerial survey showing a 61-percent drop in the number of birds in the area compared to last November.

Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries biologists conducting the survey this week counted an estimated 1.21 million ducks compared to last November’s 3.13 million birds, according to an agency news release.
